1. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?

Social Media Login Data. We may provide you with the option to register with us using your existing social media account details, like your Facebook, Twitter, or other social media account. Application Data. If you use our application(s), we also may collect the following information if you choose to provide us with access or permission:
  • Push Notifications. We may request to send you push notifications regarding your account or certain features of the application(s). If you wish to opt out from receiving these types of communications, you may turn them off in your device's settings.
This information is primarily needed to maintain the security and operation of our application(s), for troubleshooting, and for our internal analytics and reporting purposes.

All personal information that you provide to us must be true, complete, and accurate, and you must notify us of any changes to such personal information.

Information automatically collected

In Short: Some information — such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address and/or browser and device characteristics — is collected automatically when you visit our Services.

We automatically collect certain information when you visit, use, or navigate the Services. This information does not reveal your specific identity (like your name or contact information) but may include device and usage information, such as your IP address, browser and device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, referring URLs, device name, country, location, information about how and when you use our Services, and other technical information. This information is primarily needed to maintain the security and operation of our Services, and for our internal analytics and reporting purposes.

Like many businesses, we also collect information through cookies and similar technologies.

The information we collect includes:
  • Log and Usage Data. Log and usage data is service-related, diagnostic, usage, and performance information our servers automatically collect when you access or use our Services and which we record in log files. Depending on how you interact with us, this log data may include your IP address, device information, browser type, and settings and information about your activity in the Services (such as the date/time stamps associated with your usage, pages and files viewed, searches, and other actions you take such as which features you use), device event information (such as system activity, error reports (sometimes called "crash dumps"), and hardware settings).
  • Indigenous Languages. Log selected indigenous language in our apps settings. Example: Triqui Bajo.
  • User Provided Zipcode. Log user provided zip code for app support.

6. HOW DO WE HANDLE YOUR SOCIAL LOGINS?

In Short: If you choose to register or log in to our Services using a social media account, we may have access to certain information about you.

Our Services offer you the ability to register and log in using your third-party social media account details (like your Facebook or Twitter logins). Where you choose to do this, we will receive certain profile information about you from your social media provider. The profile information we receive may vary depending on the social media provider concerned, but will often include your name, email address, friends list, and profile picture, as well as other information you choose to make public on such a social media platform.

We will use the information we receive only for the purposes that are described in this privacy notice or that are otherwise made clear to you on the relevant Services. Please note that we do not control, and are not responsible for, other uses of your personal information by your third-party social media provider. 7. HOW DO WE USE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE?

In Short: We use Google's artificial intelligence services to enhance your experience by extracting text from images, detecting languages, and improving content formatting.

We use Google's artificial intelligence services to enhance your experience:
  • Image Text Extraction: When you upload images containing text, we use Google Cloud Vision API and Gemini AI to extract text content, making it searchable and translatable.
  • Language Detection: We automatically detect the language of your content to provide appropriate translation services.
  • Content Enhancement: AI may be used to improve readability and formatting of extracted text.

Data Processing and Google's Privacy: When we process your content through Google's AI services, your data is transmitted to and processed by Google Cloud Platform. 8. HOW DO WE USE LOCATION INFORMATION?

In Short: We use your zip code to determine your geographic location and provide you with locally relevant content and services.

How We Collect and Use Location Data:
  • We collect your zip code during account registration.
  • Your zip code is converted to geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude).
  • These coordinates are used to:
  • Show you relevant local posts, events, and announcements within approximately 20km of your location
  • Connect you with nearby organizations and community groups
  • Provide location-based notification services

Your Control: You can update your zip code in your account settings at any time. Changing your zip code will affect which local content you see and which organizations and events are recommended to you based on proximity.

9. ORGANIZATION MEMBERSHIPS AND AFFILIATIONS

In Short: When you join an organization through Nurbli, we collect information about your membership, role, and authorization method to provide you with organization-specific access and features.

Information We Collect:
  • Organization name and type
  • Your role within the organization (member, staff, administrator)
  • Authorization method (QR code scan, zip code verification, manual approval, or authentication token)
  • Subscription status to organization bulletin boards and communication channels
  • Organization-specific settings and preferences

How We Use This Information:
  • Provide you access to organization-specific content and announcements
  • Determine what content you can create, edit, or manage based on your role
  • Send you organization-specific notifications and updates
  • Enable organization administrators to manage their communities and members

10. INTERPRETER SERVICES AND LANGUAGE TRANSLATION

In Short: If you use our interpreter matching or language translation features, we collect and store language preferences and translation history to connect you with appropriate interpreters and improve our services.

We provide interpreter matching and language translation services to help connect community members with professional interpreters and facilitate multilingual communication.

Information We Collect Related to Interpreter Services:
  • Language preferences (primary and secondary languages you speak, read, or need translation for)
  • Interpreter requests and history (what language services you've requested and when)
  • Translation requests and content (text, documents, or communications you submit for translation)
  • Interpreter matching data (information used to match you with appropriate professional interpreters)

How We Use This Information:
  • Connect you with professional interpreters who match your language needs
  • Provide and improve translation services across our platform
  • Maintain a history of translation requests to improve service quality and accuracy

11. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?

In Short: We retain your information for varying periods depending on the type of data. In general, we keep your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this privacy notice unless otherwise required by law.

Data Retention Periods:

  • User Accounts: When an account is deleted, it is immediately made inaccessible to the user. Account data is permanently deleted after 30 days. Backup copies of account data are retained for an additional 90 days for disaster recovery purposes only.

  • Posts and Announcements: Content is retained for the duration of the user's account. If an account is deleted, all associated posts and announcements are deleted within 30 days. Backup copies are retained for an additional 90 days.

  • Payment Records: Payment and transaction information is retained for 7 years to comply with tax, accounting, and financial reporting requirements.

  • Audit Logs: Security and audit logs are retained for 2 years to support fraud prevention, security investigations, and compliance requirements.

  • Communications: Emails, support tickets, and direct messages are retained for 1 year. You may request earlier deletion by contacting support@nurbli.com. Communications are automatically deleted after 1 year.

  • IP Logs and Technical Data: IP addresses, device fingerprints, and technical analytics are retained for 90 days to support security monitoring, DDoS detection, abuse prevention, and service performance optimization.

Automated Deletion System: Data retention and deletion is automated through a scheduled deletion system that runs daily. Our systems automatically process deletion requests and purge data according to the retention periods specified above. When data reaches the end of its retention period, it is automatically and permanently deleted from our active systems. Users can request immediate account deletion by selecting the "Delete Account" option in their account settings, which triggers immediate deactivation and begins the 30-day deletion countdown.

12. HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION SAFE?

In Short: We aim to protect your personal information through a system of organizational and technical security measures.

We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. However, despite our safeguards and efforts to secure your information, no electronic transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise or guarantee that hackers, cybercriminals, or other unauthorized third parties will not be able to defeat our security and improperly collect, access, steal, or modify your information. Although we will do our best to protect your personal information, transmission of personal information to and from our Services is at your own risk. You should only access the Services within a secure environment.

12A. DATA BREACH NOTIFICATION

In Short: If we discover a data breach that compromises your personal information, we will notify you as required by law without unreasonable delay.

A data breach is an unauthorized acquisition, access, use, or disclosure of personal information that compromises the security or privacy of your data. This includes:

  • Provide notice via our website or in-app notifications if email contact fails
  • Notify law enforcement and regulatory authorities as required by law
  • Notify major credit agencies if required

  • Steps we are taking to investigate and remediate the breach
  • What you can do to protect yourself (freeze credit, monitor accounts, etc.)

  • Information about any identity theft protection services we will provide

Identity Theft Protection Services:
For breaches involving sensitive personal information, we will provide complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection services for a period of at least 12 months. Details will be provided in the breach notification.

Exceptions to Notification Requirements:
We may delay notification if law enforcement requests it, or if notification would impede a criminal investigation. We will notify you as soon as the investigation permits.

13. DATA STORAGE AND INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

In Short: Your data may be stored and processed outside your country of residence, which may have different data protection standards.

Your information may be stored and processed in:
  • United States (AWS S3, Google Cloud Platform)
  • Other regions where our service providers operate data centers

International Data Transfers: By using our services, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries outside your country of residence, which may have different data protection laws and regulations. We take reasonable steps to ensure that your data receives adequate protection in accordance with this privacy notice, regardless of where it is processed or stored.

2. DO WE COLLECT INFORMATION FROM MINORS?

In Short: We do not knowingly collect data from or market to children under 18 years of age.

We do not knowingly solicit data from or market to children under 18 years of age. By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 18 or that you are the parent or guardian of such a minor and consent to such minor dependent’s use of the Services. If we learn that personal information from users less than 18 years of age has been collected, we will deactivate the account and take reasonable measures to promptly delete such data from our records. 14. WHAT ARE YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS?

In Short:  You may review, change, or terminate your account at any time.

Withdrawing your consent: If we are relying on your consent to process your personal information, which may be express and/or implied consent depending on the applicable law, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us by using the contact details provided in the section "HOW CAN YOU CONTACT US ABOUT THIS NOTICE?" below.

However, please note that this will not affect the lawfulness of the processing before its withdrawal nor, when applicable law allows, will it affect the processing of your personal information conducted in reliance on lawful processing grounds other than consent.

Account Information

If you would at any time like to review or change the information in your account or terminate your account, you can:

Upon your request to terminate your account, we will deactivate or delete your account and information from our active databases. However, we may retain some information in our files to prevent fraud, troubleshoot problems, assist with any investigations, enforce our legal terms and/or comply with applicable legal requirements.

Cookies and similar technologies: Most Web browsers are set to accept cookies by default. If you prefer, you can usually choose to set your browser to remove cookies and to reject cookies. If you choose to remove cookies or reject cookies, this could affect certain features or services of our Services.

15. CONTROLS FOR DO-NOT-TRACK FEATURES

Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems and mobile applications include a Do-Not-Track ("DNT") feature or setting you can activate to signal your privacy preference not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. At this stage no uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized. As such, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals or any other mechanism that automatically communicates your choice not to be tracked online. If a standard for online tracking is adopted that we must follow in the future, we will inform you about that practice in a revised version of this privacy notice.

We may use your personal information for our own business purposes, such as for undertaking internal research for technological development and demonstration. This is not considered to be "selling" of your personal information.

We have not disclosed, sold, or shared any personal information to third parties for a business or commercial purpose in the preceding twelve (12) months. We will not sell or share personal information in the future belonging to website visitors, users, and other consumers.

California Residents

California Civil Code Section 1798.83, also known as the "Shine The Light" law permits our users who are California residents to request and obtain from us, once a year and free of charge, information about categories of personal information (if any) we disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes and the names and addresses of all third parties with which we shared personal information in the immediately preceding calendar year. If you are a California resident and would like to make such a request, please submit your request in writing to us using the contact information provided below.

If you are under 18 years of age, reside in California, and have a registered account with the Services, you have the right to request removal of unwanted data that you publicly post on the Services. To request removal of such data, please contact us using the contact information provided below and include the email address associated with your account and a statement that you reside in California. We will make sure the data is not publicly displayed on the Services, but please be aware that the data may not be completely or comprehensively removed from all our systems (e.g., backups, etc.).

CCPA Privacy Notice

This section applies only to California residents. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you have the rights listed below.

Nurbli does not sell, rent, or share personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes as defined by California law. We do not and will not sell your personal information. You have the right to request that we do not sell your personal information.

How to opt out:
Since we do not sell your personal information, you do not need to submit an opt-out request. However, if you would like to confirm our practices or have concerns, please contact us at support@nurbli.com.


The California Code of Regulations defines a "residents" as:

(1) every individual who is in the State of California for other than a temporary or transitory purpose and
(2) every individual who is domiciled in the State of California who is outside the State of California for a temporary or transitory purpose

All other individuals are defined as "non-residents."

If this definition of "resident" applies to you, we must adhere to certain rights and obligations regarding your personal information.

Your rights with respect to your personal data

Right to request deletion of the data — Request to delete

You can ask for the deletion of your personal information. If you ask us to delete your personal information, we will respect your request and delete your personal information, subject to certain exceptions provided by law, such as (but not limited to) the exercise by another consumer of his or her right to free speech, our compliance requirements resulting from a legal obligation, or any processing that may be required to protect against illegal activities.

Depending on the circumstances, you have a right to know:

In accordance with applicable law, we are not obligated to provide or delete consumer information that is de-identified in response to a consumer request or to re-identify individual data to verify a consumer request.

Right to Limit Use and Disclosure of Sensitive Personal Information

We do not process consumer's sensitive personal information.

Verification process

Upon receiving your request, we will need to verify your identity to determine you are the same person about whom we have the information in our system. These verification efforts require us to ask you to provide information so that we can match it with information you have previously provided us. For instance, depending on the type of request you submit, we may ask you to provide certain information so that we can match the information you provide with the information we already have on file, or we may contact you through a communication method (e.g., phone or email) that you have previously provided to us. We may also use other verification methods as the circumstances dictate.

We will only use personal information provided in your request to verify your identity or authority to make the request. To the extent possible, we will avoid requesting additional information from you for the purposes of verification. However, if we cannot verify your identity from the information already maintained by us, we may request that you provide additional information for the purposes of verifying your identity and for security or fraud-prevention purposes. We will delete such additionally provided information as soon as we finish verifying you.

Other privacy rights
  • You may object to the processing of your personal information.
  • You may request correction of your personal data if it is incorrect or no longer relevant, or ask to restrict the processing of the information.
  • You can designate an authorized agent to make a request under the CCPA on your behalf. We may deny a request from an authorized agent that does not submit proof that they have been validly authorized to act on your behalf in accordance with the CCPA.

Upon receiving your request, we will respond without undue delay, but in all cases, within forty-five (45) days of receipt. The response period may be extended once by forty-five (45) additional days when reasonably necessary. We will inform you of any such extension within the initial 45-day response period, together with the reason for the extension.

Right to appeal

What happens:
  • Your account will be permanently disabled within 24 hours

  • Some information may be retained if required by law or for legitimate business purposes (fraud prevention, safety)

2. DOWNLOAD YOUR DATA (DATA PORTABILITY)

A machine-readable file (CSV or JSON format) containing:

3. UPDATE OR CORRECT YOUR INFORMATION

You can update or correct any personal information we hold about you.

  • Zip code/location

Response timeframe: Updates take effect immediately for most fields. Email corrections will be processed within 5 business days.


4. REQUEST ACCOUNT RESTRICTIONS

You can restrict certain uses of your data without deleting your account.

Available restrictions:
  • Restrict data sharing with third-party service providers
  • Restrict use of your data for service improvement
  • Restrict automated decision-making
  • Request erasure of specific data categories

Response timeframe: We will acknowledge your request within 10 business days and implement restrictions within 30 days where feasible.

10. NO DISCRIMINATION

We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights. You will not be denied service, charged different prices, or offered different service quality based on exercising your rights.


CHILDREN'S PRIVACY - COPPA COMPLIANCE


Our Service is intended for users age 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. If we become aware that a user is under 13, we will immediately suspend their account and delete their personal information within 30 days, except as permitted by COPPA.
